At a celebratory gala on 2 June 2022, Dr Erwin Hauser was honoured with the
Pegasus Award in crystal for his lifetime achievement. The award is presented by
" Oberösterreichische Nachrichten", a daily newspaper in Upper Austria, to the most
successful companies in the province.
A crucial factor in the decision to present this prestigious award to Dr Hauser was the im-pressive growth our company has enjoyed since its foundation.
Starting at his father's company
Erwin Hauser's father, Rudolf, was a specialist in refrigeration technology at Linzer Brauerei before turning self-employed in 1947 as a refrigerator repair man. After completing his polytechnic studies in machine engineering and gaining his doctorate from the University of World Trade (now Vienna University of Economic and Business), Erwin Hauser joined his father's business.
Influenced by a visit to Husqvarna in Sweden and a number of internships overseas, in 1965 Erwin Hauser decided to manufacture metal refrigeration equipment for the food retail industry. In 1981, he became the sole manager and turned his father's business into a company that has enjoyed success across Europe and today employs some 1,200 staff.
Still keeping busy
Dr Erwin Hauser handed responsibility for the running of the company to an experienced manage ment team several years ago. His primary focus today is developing real estate projects. In his free time, Dr Hauser is a passionate huntsman and has collected works of art since his student days, many of which adorn the walls of different HAUSER locations.
